Transparent Backsheet Solar Panel Technology

Using a combination of high-efficiency mono passivated emitter rear contact (PERC) bifacial cells and POE film for backsheets, these solar modules with transparent backsheets can generate electricity from the front and up to 20% energy gain from the back.

A bifacial transparent backsheet with a vapor-resistant POE and a transparent backsheet made of fluoric materials has a life of 25 years. The translucent backsheet's exterior layer provides anti-aging and corrosion protection. For use in harsh conditions, the backsheet is covered with a fluoric coating (thickness greater than 10 mm) that inhibits UV rays while retaining its excellent mechanical qualities. POE is a water-resistant polymer that outperforms EVA because of its longer, more stable molecular chain and lack of acid groups.

It is a means of increasing the energy production of a PV system with minimal additional labour, lowering the system's levelized cost of electricity. The ease with which it may be made, particularly at the cell level, is the key to its enormous popularity. Even PERC, like any other modern technology, may be made bifacial at no added cost.

Why Should You Use Transparent Backsheets?

Bifacial solar panels with a transparent backsheet may produce the same amount of power and gain energy from the backside. They're lighter, take less time to set up, and come with a 25-year power warranty.

1. Lighter for the same amount of power output

Despite the fact that there are more types of solar modules available today than in the past, the overall trend toward larger sizes and higher power production has not changed. The weight of the part increases as it grows in size. The module with a glass-transparent backsheet is lighter than the dual-glass variant, and utilizing a transparent backsheet saves even more weight as the module grows larger.

Our Venusun S 410Wp product, for example, weighs only 14kg, whilst our standard 410Wp solar panels weigh 7kg more. If you live in an apartment and want to install solar panels on your balcony, these lightweight solar panels will be more easier and safer to hang.

2. High quality at a reasonable price

Transparent backsheets have been used as an alternative by a number of module makers. This transition shows that these transparent backsheets are less expensive for the same quality.

Module manufacturers claim that their bifacial modules may provide a higher internal rate of return and lower levelized cost of energy for bifacial module PV systems due to their smaller weight and ease of installation and mounting.

3. Increased efficiency at lower operating temperatures

The majority of people are concerned about its energy generation.

Data from a cement-fixed placement (P type) study show that the daily yield of the transparent backsheet module increases with increasing irradiation. The power output difference between the bifacial transparent backsheet module and the glass-glass module grows as the incoming light intensity increases. The lower operating temperature of the transparent backsheet accounts for its higher efficiency.

On the one hand, polymer backsheet modules are "breathable," allowing moisture to infiltrate to locations where heat is distributed more evenly. This reduces the working temperature of the cell by 5 to 10 °C, enhancing its efficiency.

The backsheet, on the other hand, is infrared light transparent, allowing waste heat from the module's solar cells to escape through the back.

4.Easier to maintain

The transparent backsheet of a bifacial module is easier to clean and maintain than glass since it is stain-resistant.

The surface of a transparent backsheet is densely packed with fluorine atoms, making it exceedingly electronegative. As a result, soiling on the backsheet's surface is dust that has physically absorbed into the backsheet. Rain washes these stains away fast, preventing them from collecting on the backsheet and lowering energy output. Water droplets roll off the hydrophobic surface of the translucent backsheet, making it easy to clean.

5. Rot resistance from salt, acids, and sand

The transparent backsheet is corrosion resistant to salty and alkaline chemicals. This makes the TB module suitable for usage in greenhouses, saline-alkaline soil, and PV farming. The translucent backsheet's top layer can endure more than 50L of falling sand. The transparent backsheet in a desert may be worn down by sand after more than 30 years.

Solar Panels with Transparent Backsheet in Extreme Weather

1. During Hailstorms

Tempered glass is used on the front side of the bifacial transparent backsheet. Tempered glass has a higher impact strength, making it safer to use in areas prone to severe weather, such as hail.

2. In extremely hot conditions

Because of its anti-UV qualities, translucent backsheet can be used in intense heat. Glass has a UV transmittance of 40 to 50%, but a transparent backsheet has a transmittance of less than 1%. Because high-transparency POE is commonly used for bifacial modules, the backsheet of the module may filter UV rays and so safeguard the cells and packaging materials contained within it.
